This page is Under Construction

A new lodge is under construction above the climbing area.  Parking is temporarily moved to the Hang-Glider Launch Site just east of the construction zone fence.

Remember To Register At The Visitors' Center

Welcome to Mt. Magazine, the highest point in Arkansas and one of the finest crags in the area.  Rising to 2,753 feet, Mt. Magazine looms over the Arkansas and Petit Jean River valleys.

Technical rock climbing and repelling on Mt. Magazine are permitted only on the south-facing bluff below the lodge.  According to  by Kerry Allen (Short Stone Press, N. Little Rock, 1996), there are 90 established routs ranging from 5.5 to 5.12c.  The rock is Savanna Sandstone of high quality.

There is one Hang Glider launch point.  It is situated on the south face of Mt. Magazine, just east of the lodge site.

The Park has 18 newly renovated campsites with full hookups and a bathhouse in the Cameron Bluff Campground.  Camping is not permitted in other areas of the park unless the campground is full.  Brown Spring Picnic area is used as an overflow camping site.  Campers must register at the State Park Visitor Center before setting up.

Climbers and Hang Gliders are required to register at the Visitor Center.  Arkansas State Parks accepts no responsibility for injuries to park visitors.  Park staff members are trained in first aid, CPR and Search & Rescue and should be notified as soon as possible when an emergency arises.  We want all visitors to have a safe and enjoyable adventure to the mountain.
