Located just south of Booneville, and 35 minutes from Interstate 40, the north-central section of the Ouachita National Forest, the southern section of the Ozark National Forest and Blue Mountain Lake offer outstanding opportunities for individual and family recreation.

The area highlighted in red (below) is the Jack Creek / Knoppers Ford Recreation Area, which contains several trails and camp sites that offer true adventure & challenge.

Dry Creek Wilderness Take Hwy 23 south of Booneville 2 miles, turn left on Highway 116 for 1 mile, turn right on County Road 19 (Jack Creek Road) for 6 miles, then turn left on Forest Service Road 141 for 5 miles past the Jack Creek Recreation Area to forest road 51.  This road borders the Dry Creek Wilderness & the Hogan Mountain Walk-in Turkey Hunting Area.  The Dry Creek Wilderness Area is 6,310 acres.
Hole In The Ground Mountain Trail Take Hwy 23 south of Booneville 2 miles, turn left on Highway 116 for 1 mile, turn right on County Road 19 (Jack Creek Road) for 6 miles, then turn left on Forest Service Road 141 for 1 mile to the Jack Creek Recreation Area.  The trail is marked with white triangles.  The trail is 3.6 miles, takes approximately 2.5 hours 1-way and is classified as Most Difficult.

Jack Creek Recreational Area

Take Hwy 23 south of Booneville 2 miles, turn left on Highway 116 for 1 mile, turn right on County Road 19 (Jack Creek Road) for 6 miles, then turn left on Forest Service Road 141 for 1 mile to the Jack Creek Recreation Area.  The recreational area has camp sites, bathrooms and a very scenic "swimming-hole".

Knoppers Ford Recreational Area

Take Hwy 23 south of Booneville 2 miles, turn left on Highway 116 for 1 mile, turn right on County Road 19 (Jack Creek Road) for 8 miles to the Knoppers Ford Recreational Area.
Sugar Creek Equestrian Trail Take Hwy 23 south of Booneville 2 miles, turn left on Highway 116 for 1 mile, turn right on County Road 19 (Jack Creek Road) for 8 miles to the Knoppers Ford Recreational Area.  Go past Knoppers Ford 0.5 mile and take a left on Road S30, travel 1.25 miles to the Equestrian Trailhead parking and camping area.  The trail is marked with yellow rectangles and yellow-marked posts.  The trail system is 35 miles; loop times range from approximately 2 hours to all-day and is classified as ranging from Easy to Most Difficult.
Sugar Creek Trail Take Hwy 23 south of Booneville 2 miles, turn left on Highway 116 for 1 mile, turn right on County Road 19 (Jack Creek Road) for 8 miles to the Knoppers Ford Recreational Area.  The trail can also be reached from the Jack Creek Recreation Area by traveling east on Hole in the Ground Mountain Trail for 0.2 mile.  The trail is 3.5 miles, takes approximately 2.5 hours 1-way and is classified as Most Difficult.
