Did You Know . . . ?

The Logan County Singing Convention was started in Johnson County in 1872 (as Logan County did not exist at that time).  It has met in Logan County (formed in 1873) every year since.

What is a Gospel Singing Convention?

The Gospel Singing Convention is a form of worship, and of entertainment, that was rather common in the mid to late 1800's. Simply put, it is a bunch of people who gather together to worship in song and enjoy fellowship.  The original conventions moved from community to community, church to church. People would travel for miles, staying with others in the communities where the convention was being held.

In keeping with the century-old tradition of the convention, the individuals who sing are not performing, nor are they paid to sing. They are "laymen", who just enjoy singing.
